MIAA captain's leadership conference

Football captains (photo L to R:) Hunter Ferreira, Danny DeGirolamo, Joe Cox, and Will Shields, along with coach DeGirolamo attended the MIAA captain's leadership conference at MIAA headquarters in Franklin, MA on Friday, March 17.
The MHS captains worked alongside of captains from many communities across the commonwealth. They worked in both small and large groups while participating in activities relating to leadership. Topics included defining and understanding leadership, goal setting, and working to understand different view points of others in an effort to move a team in the right direction.
Thank you to the MHS Athletic Department and school administration for allowing us the opportunity to attend.
Veterans tribute
This week-end(11/19/16) the Mansfield Football Team distributed over 80 turkeys to Mansfield veterans as a thank-you for their service to our country. They also extended an invitation to be their guest at the annual Thanksgiving football game, including a sideline pass.
Among the recipients was Walter Gilbert: pictured below with some team members.

The military career of Mansfield’s Walter Gilbert, 89, is highly decorated. He has earned 17 medals in total that include a Silver Star (the military’s third highest honor) and two Purple Hearts, the Legion of Order medallion, the highest distinction of military honor in France.

Pumpkin Festival 2016
Camp Sunshine Pumpkin Festival 2016
After school on Friday, October 21st, students from the Student Service Corps and from Mr. Harding's Art class joined together to face the daunting task of carving over 500 pumpkins behind the L.L.Bean store in Mansfield.
Even the rain did not deter the massive effort to prepare for the Pumpkin Festival to benefit Camp Sunshine, a retreat on Lake Sebago in Maine for children with serious illnesses and their families.
The SSC advisors, Mrs. Fournier and Mrs. Shea who were also up to their elbows in pumpkin seeds would like to thank the Manley family for organizing the carving event and all of the students who participated in this rewarding opportunity.
On Saturday, the festival and 5K race took place at the Mansfield Crossing store with the carved pumpkins lining the store displays, sidewalks and parking lot.
