Pioneer of Women's Sports Award

This new award celebrates athletes, coaches, and administrators who advanced

and promoted opportunities for female athletes to compete at MHS.

The award's inaugural recipient is Kathy (King) Risotti, Class of 1981.

After competing on the boys ' team for two years, Risotti led the way in 1979 for the

establishment of a women’s cross country program at MHS.

Risotti returned to Mansfield after graduating from college and has taught at

Jordan/Jackson Elementary School for over 30 years, continuing her positive

influence on the Mansfield community.

"The Hall of Fame induction ceremony allows us to recognize the impressive

achievements of former Mansfield High School student-athletes and coaches,"

Athletic Director Selman said. "It also offers us the chance to celebrate the ways in

which our athletes have shaped the history of the athletic program. Through the

Pioneer of Women's Sports Award, we recognize the women who paved the way for

their peers and future athletes. Kathy Risotti is just one of those athletes, and we

are honored to acknowledge her contributions to women's sports, especially in

regard to Mansfield High's cross country program."

"We look forward to celebrating these athletes and recognizing their achievements,"

Superintendent Murphy said. "Their contributions have upheld the values of

Mansfield High School and our athletic programs, and we are proud to welcome

them into the All Sports Hall of Fame."
