WE HAVE A NEW RECORD!!
There is a new record for the number of engineering textbooks supported by a deck designed using only 6 strips of cardboard, 2 straws, one sheet of copy paper and 12 inches of masking tape—74 books!!
Proud deck designers of the record-breaking design are Andrew Walsh, Peter Gartland, and Patrick Dean.
In this section of engineering, students explore the concepts of live load, safety factor and compressive force, and material strength through design process.
Our second place design by Tucker Olen, Sam Cavicchi, and Haig Megerdichian held 53 books.
The following students attended the State Mathematics Competition at Shrewsbury High School Friday 4/1/16: Alex Horn, Kristen Elofson, Meghana Tallam, Nithin Lankipalle, Arjun Sonti, Ethan Blodgett, Cindy Gu, and Savi Hettiarachchi.
Mrs. Elofson’s Engineering Videos
Mrs. Elofson’s Visual Basic class visited Mrs. Holster’s 5th grade music class this week to familiarize themselves with the Instrument Project and the criteria that she uses to grade each student.
Mrs. Elofson’s class will be designing a grading program to facilitate the grading process for Mrs. Holster as she grades roughly 150 students’ instruments based on construction, oral presentation, composition and performance among other elements. In the instrument project, students use recycled materials to engineer a working instrument that plays at least three different sounds.
